Kelvin Cruz delivers RD$250 million more for Dominican athletes heading to the 2026 Central American Games

Santo Domingo – The Minister of Sports, Kelvin Cruz, continues to promote national sports development. This Tuesday, he made the delivery of a third installment of economic resources, this time for an amount of 250 million pesos, to the sports federations of the country. These funds are intended for the preparation of the athletes who will represent the Dominican Republic in the upcoming Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026. The delivery was carried out through the Dominican Olympic Committee (COD). With this new allocation, Minister Cruz has allocated a total of 565 million pesos to support Dominican athletes who will participate in the regional event. The resources will be used in preparation programs, establishing training bases, and hiring coaches. The main objective is to ensure an outstanding participation of the Dominican Republic in the multi-sport games.

“For the Ministry of Sports, it is a great joy to be in the Olympic Committee for the third time in the delivery of resources, fulfilling a mandate from the President of the Republic Luis Abinader, so that they are delivered to the federations,” said Minister Cruz.

Minister Cruz highlighted that, to date, 535 million pesos have been delivered for the preparation of the Dominican delegation that will compete in the XXV Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026. These funds are part of the institutional commitment to strengthen the technical and competitive preparation of sports federations, as well as the commitments of the current Olympic cycle. The president of the COD, engineer Garibaldy Bautista, urged the federations to expedite the liquidation of the funds received.

“We have a great commitment to the staging of the Central American and Caribbean Games, we have received the resources for the preparation and organization of our athletes”, Bautista highlighted.

The delivery of resources took place in the Juan Ulises García Saleta Hall of the COD, with the participation of members of the executive committee of the Olympic organization and presidents of the sports federations. The 25th Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026 will take place between July 24 and August 8.
