Santo Domingo – The National Institute of Physical Education (INEFI) has announced a change in the dates of the XI National School Sports Games. Alberto Rodríguez Mella, executive director of INEFI, explained that the modification is mainly due to delays in the arrival of the surface for the athletics track in San Francisco de Macorís, the main venue of the event. These delays are attributed to factors that have affected international maritime transport, directly impacting the games’ schedule. The new schedule establishes that the games will be held from September 28 to October 12, 2025. San Francisco de Macorís will be the main venue, with sub-venues in La Vega, Salcedo, and Nagua.

One of the crowning achievements of the school games is the athletics track in San Francisco de Macorís, which had not been in optimal condition for decades. One of the purposes of these games is to leave a legacy of sports facilities in the venues that allow athletes of today and future generations to have decent facilities for the practice of sport.

The limitations in the Panama Canal have reduced the operational capacity of ships, causing delays in the transfer of containers with materials from the United States. Eddy González, technical director of the School Games, pointed out that these international variables, derived from adverse processes in the supply chain, are beyond his control. However, the commitment is to carry out the National School Sports Games in the best possible way, guaranteeing the experience and well-being of each athlete. The participation of approximately 4,600 athletes is expected, representing all the provinces of the country, who will compete in various sports disciplines. The organization of the National School Sports Games San Francisco 2025 promises innovation in infrastructure, technology, and dissemination. Modern solutions will be implemented, including air-conditioned accommodation areas, recreational spaces with video games and board games, and modern sports facilities. The games will be broadcast by Teleantillas, Channel 10, and the INEFI YouTube channel. In addition, they will be televised for the Dominican community in the United States through Super Canal.

Our mission is for every young athlete to have a unique experience, one they will remember forever and that, at the same time, strengthens the vision of school sports as a path to comprehensive training, leadership, and family unity.

INEFI continues to promote school sports as a tool for social and educational development, consolidating San Francisco de Macorís and the northeast region as key venues for the celebration of this important student sporting event.
