Eury Pérez Shines to Lead the Marlins to Victory
In a crucial moment, Eury Pérez proved his worth. The Dominican pitcher delivered a solid performance, leading the Miami Marlins to a 5-3 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers at loanDepot park. This triumph ended a four-game losing streak for the team.
In a showdown of young talents on the mound, Perez outdueled Jacob Misiorowski, showcasing a remarkable recovery after some recent challenges. After a period with an ERA of 6.23 in his previous three outings, the Dominican pitcher redeemed himself with a quality start, allowing only one unearned run and three hits, while striking out seven batters.
The four-seam fastball was Pérez’s main weapon, used in two-thirds of his pitches. With this tool, he achieved six of his seven strikeouts, demonstrating remarkable efficiency with 84 pitches.
Miami’s offense provided early and decisive support. From the first inning, the team attacked, scoring three runs that set the course of the game and forced Misiorowski into a challenging start with 30 pitches.
The first batters got on base, loading the bases. Although Kyle Stowers, in his debut, didn’t get a hit, he contributed to the offensive pressure, even getting hit by a pitch.
The attack continued with a ground ball by Dominican Agustín Ramírez and a two-run single by Liam Hicks.
Pérez maintained control of the game until the sixth inning, when he conceded his only walk to David Hamilton. This runner advanced to third after a steal and an error, scoring the rival’s only run with a groundout by Garrett Mitchell.
Miami’s response was immediate. In the bottom of that same inning, Venezuelan Javier Sanoja, as a pinch hitter, extended the lead with a two-run single against DL Hall, also marking the 100th hit of his career in the Major Leagues.
With Pérez’s dominance from the mound and a timely offensive, the Marlins managed to overcome their slump and get back on the path to victory.
