San Pedro de Macorís – Esmil Rogers once again demonstrated his worth on the mound, leading the Estrellas Orientales to their third consecutive victory. The team defeated the Gigantes del Cibao with a score of 4-2, in a vibrant match held this Tuesday in the stadium.
Rogers, with a masterful performance, pitched five scoreless innings. His performance included only two hits allowed, four walks, and five strikeouts, earning him his second win of the season.
Early and Decisive Offensive
The Stars’ offense made itself felt early on. In the second inning, they managed to score three runs, thanks to a single by Ángel Martínez, a sacrifice fly by Vidal Bruján, and a daring steal of home by Rodolfo Durán.
In the seventh inning, Bruján hit a single that extended the lead to 4-0, a difference that would prove crucial despite the Giants’ effort in the eighth episode, who hit a two-run home run.
Reliever Patrick Weigel secured the victory in the ninth inning, earning his first save of the season.
With this triumph, the Estrellas Orientales improve their record to 13-16 in the season, boosting their classification aspirations.
