Escogido celebrates 2024-25 championship ring with Junior Caminero and his “Caminerazo”

SANTO DOMINGO.- The Leones del Escogido celebrated this Friday the official presentation of the championship rings for the 2024-2025 season. This season culminated with the conquest of their 17th title in the Dominican Republic Professional Baseball League (LIDOM), after a memorable seven-game final series against the Tigres del Licey. In addition, the team achieved its fifth Caribbean Series title, obtained in Mexico.

The event was led by Eduardo Najri, president of the Escogido Baseball Club, along with other members of the red board. Among them were Fernando Armenteros, treasurer and executive vice president; Luis Armando García, secretary; José Miguel Bonetti, director; Alfredo Najri, director; Roberto Bonetti, board member, and José Miguel Bonetti Jr.

One of the most emotional moments of the ceremony was the presentation of the ring to Junior Caminero, third baseman for the Tampa Bay Rays and Most Valuable Player of the Final Series. Caminero starred in the memorable “Caminerazo”, a home run that propelled the Lions to victory in the ninth inning of the seventh and decisive game, being one of the most iconic plays in recent Dominican baseball.

Key figures from the championship, such as Sócrates Brito, recognized for his spectacular catch in right field, also received their rings; as well as Johnny Cueto, Erik González, Franmil Reyes, Junior Lake and Héctor Rodríguez, among other outstanding players from the champion team.

Also, members of the technical staff and club support staff were recognized, including coaches Tony Díaz, Israel Alcántara, Wilkin Castillo, Charlie Valerio, René Rojas, Jorge Mejía and Héctor “La Manta” De la Cruz, for their contribution to the success of the organization.

The 2024-2025 Final Series, which pitted the Eternal Rivals, Escogido and Licey, against each other, is remembered as one of the most exciting in the history of the Dominican Professional Baseball League, keeping the capital and the entire country on tenterhooks due to its intensity and high competitive level.

With the delivery of the rings, the Leones del Escogido close a historic season, consolidating their legacy as one of the most successful franchises in Dominican baseball.
