Dimitrov Retires Due to Injury Against Sinner at Wimbledon
London – Bulgarian tennis player Grigor Dimitrov was forced to retire from the match against Italian Jannik Sinner at Wimbledon due to a pectoral injury.
Dimitrov, who had lost the first two sets with scores of 6-3 and 7-5, could not continue after suffering the injury in the third set, when the score was 2-2.
The incident occurred when closing a game with a service. Dimitrov collapsed on the court, requiring immediate medical attention.
After being attended to on the court and then taken to the locker room for a more thorough evaluation, Dimitrov, visibly affected and with tears, announced his retirement from the match.
This is the fourth consecutive time Dimitrov has withdrawn from a Grand Slam due to injury.
With the victory, Jannik Sinner advances to the quarterfinals of the tournament.
