David Ortiz: Walk of Stars to honor Big Papi in 2025

Santo Domingo – The Bulevar de las Estrellas Foundation has announced that the iconic David Ortiz will be inducted in a special event scheduled for November 12, 2025. Carlos Batista Matos, president of the foundation, highlighted the significance of Ortiz’s achievements, both individual and collective, and his invaluable contribution to Dominican sports culture, projecting a positive image of the country nationally and internationally. During the ceremony, Ortiz will unveil his star on the walkway located on Winston Churchill Avenue corner Victor Garrido Puello. The event will feature the participation of prominent figures from the sports, music, and cultural fields. David Ortiz, recognized as the most outstanding and productive designated hitter in the history of Major League Baseball, entered the Cooperstown Hall of Fame in 2022.

  • Seven-time Silver Slugger Award winner (2004-07, 2011, 2013, and 2016).
  • Three-time World Series champion (2004, 2007, and 2013).
In addition, Ortiz was the Home Run Derby champion in 2010 and eight-time winner of the Edgar Martínez Award for best designated hitter (2003-2007, 2011, 2013 and 2016). He was also awarded the Hank Aaron Award twice for his outstanding offensive performance (2005 and 2016) and received the Roberto Clemente Award in 2011 for his notable social and community work. He was named Most Valuable Player of the American League Championship Series in 2004 and of the World Series in 2013.
