CINCINNATI – The Cincinnati Reds have made the decision to send Dominican player Noelvi Marte to their Triple-A team in Louisville, following a challenging start to the season in the Major Leagues. Mars, who aspired to establish himself as the starting right fielder, has failed to connect with the bat in the early stages of the campaign. In 11 games played, the player has a batting average of .138, the product of only 4 hits in 29 at-bats. In addition, he has not achieved extra bases or RBIs, and has accumulated 10 strikeouts.

He’s just going through a tough time. He seems to be trying to do too much on every turn.

The leader Terry Francona attributes this drop in performance to difficulties in the player’s offensive approach. The gardener Rece Hinds is expected to be promoted to take Marte’s place on the 26-player roster. Hinds has shown good performance in both the preseason and Triple-A, where he is batting .354 with five home runs and 16 RBIs in 13 games. Marte, 24 years old, is coming off a 2025 season in which he batted .263 with 14 home runs and 51 RBIs in 90 games. However, his recent career has been marked by ups and downs, including an 80-game suspension in 2024 due to a violation of the anti-doping program. Initially a third baseman, Marte was moved to right field in mid-2025, a position in which he showed defensive progress and made important plays for the team at the end of the season. With his return to the minor leagues, Marte will seek to regain his offensive consistency and reach the level that positioned him as a key piece in Cincinnati’s future.
