Cadets and Midshipmen Sports Games Inaugurated in the ERD

San Isidro – With an emotional act on the esplanade of the General Directorate of Education, Training and Training of the Dominican Republic Army (ERD), the XXVIII Sports Games of Cadets and Midshipmen began, dedicated to Major General Julio César Hernández Olivero, ERD. The ceremony, held on Thursday, September 18, was attended by high-ranking military authorities and prominent personalities. The event began with military honors for the Inspector General of the Armed Forces, Major General Delio Buenaventura Colón Rosario, ERD, representing the Minister of Defense, Lieutenant General Carlos Antonio Fernández Onofre, ERD. Brigadier General Raúl Esteban Mora Hernández, director of the Batalla de las Carreras Military Academy, offered the welcoming remarks. He highlighted the importance of the competition as a space for integration and development for the military and police youth.

The event is a symbol of fellowship, discipline, and competitive spirit.

Brigadier General José Manuel Durán Ynfante, ERD
The keynote speech was delivered by Brigadier General José Manuel Durán Ynfante, ERD, president of the Board of Directors of the Sports Confederation of the Armed Forces and the National Police. He highlighted the importance of the games and valued the dedication to Major General Hernández Olivero. During the ceremony, Lieutenant Colonel Justo Fernando Méndez, DR, read the profile of the honoree, highlighting his vision on sports. In this edition, cadets and midshipmen from the Army, Navy, Air Force, and National Police will compete in various sports disciplines:

  • Volleyball
  • Athletics
  • Swimming
  • Soccer
  • Chess
  • Table tennis
  • Softball
  • Shooting
The official opening was proclaimed by Major General Colón Rosario. The competitions will be held until October, on Tuesdays and Thursdays, at the participating academies. The participating institutions are: the Military Academy “Batalla de las Carreras” (ERD), the Naval Academy “Vicealmirante César de Windt Lavandier” (ARD), the Air Academy “Brigadier General Pilot Frank A. Feliz Miranda” (FARD) and the School for Cadets “José Rafael Félix Hermida González” (National Police).
