CHICAGO – The Milwaukee Bucks have reached an agreement to hire Taylor Jenkins as their new coach, according to reports published this Thursday. Jenkins will take over the position left by Doc Rivers.
Jenkins, who previously was part of the Bucks’ technical staff as an assistant, returns to the organization after his successful stint as head coach of the Memphis Grizzlies. During his time in Memphis, Jenkins guided the team to three playoff appearances over six seasons.
If the agreement is officially confirmed, Jenkins will take the reins of a Bucks team that is coming off a challenging season, finishing with a record of 32-50 and missing the postseason.
The new coach will replace Rivers, who left the position after two and a half years at the helm of the team. During his tenure, Rivers accumulated a record of 97-103 and suffered two eliminations in the first round of the playoffs. Despite this, Milwaukee managed to conquer the NBA Cup in 2024 under his direction.
Jenkins arrives with an impressive track record and a growing reputation within the league. He became the coach with the most wins in Memphis history and stood out for his focus on developing young talents and an offensive and dynamic playing style.
With this decision, the Bucks are looking for a new direction in the hope of regaining their prominence in the Eastern Conference and competing again for the championship.
