A’ja Wilson Signs Historic Extension with Las Vegas Aces

Star center A’ja Wilson has reached an agreement to extend her contract with the Las Vegas Aces for three years, in a deal valued at $4.7 million. This contract becomes the most lucrative in WNBA history, thanks to the new collective bargaining agreement.

According to the terms of the agreement, Wilson will receive $1.4 million in the 2026 season, the maximum allowed. The contract contemplates gradual increases to complete the total amount. This figure represents a significant increase compared to his previous salary.

Wilson is widely recognized as one of the most prominent figures in women’s basketball. Her impressive career includes four Most Valuable Player (MVP) awards and three league championships with the Aces. Her performance has established her as the key player of the franchise.

Although other players have signed maximum contracts under the new agreement, Wilson is the only one who has secured a multi-year commitment with this economic magnitude.

The new collective bargaining agreement, the result of extensive negotiations between the league and the players’ union in March, marks a turning point in the WNBA. Among the most important changes are an increase in the salary cap per team and a distribution of 20% of the league’s profits among the players.

This new landscape also impacts the new generations. The number one pick of the 2026 draft, Azzi Fudd, will earn around $500,000 in her debut season.

With this historic agreement, Wilson not only reinforces its leadership position on the court, but also establishes itself as the face of a new era in professional women’s basketball.
