Aguilas Cibaeñas Strengthen with Pitcher Marino Santy

The Baseball Operations management of the Águilas Cibaeñas has announced the incorporation of left-handed pitcher Marino Santy, a young talent who promises to bring depth and strategic options to the bullpen for the upcoming season of the Dominican Baseball League.

Santy, 24 years old and belonging to the Chicago Cubs organization, has stood out in the minor leagues for his ability to strike out batters. In the 2026 season, the native of Santo Domingo has experienced a notable evolution, managing to ascend to the Double-A category (Knoxville Smokies).

In his first appearances in Double-A, Santy has maintained a perfect effectiveness of 0.00, completing 26 outs, of which fifteen have been by way of the strikeout.

Santy’s repertoire is not only distinguished by his speed, reaching 98 miles per hour, but also by the variety of his pitches, including slider, changeup, and curveball. This combination has allowed him to maintain an average of over 10 strikeouts per 9 innings during his six seasons in the minors, establishing himself as a specialist in high-pressure situations.

Although he has worked as an opener in the past, his most recent role has been as a reliever, demonstrating his ability to adapt. Santy arrives at the Eagles at the best moment of his professional career, having reduced his WHIP to 0.82 in his recent performances in Double-A.
