Chase Briscoe Secures a Spot in the NASCAR Final at Talladega

Chase Briscoe, with an outstanding performance, secured his place in the NASCAR season finale, after an exciting victory at the Talladega superspeedway. Briscoe achieved his first victory on a superspeedway, joining his teammate Denny Hamlin, both Toyota drivers, in the final that will define the champion at Phoenix Raceway in two weeks. The race reached a critical point on the restart, with Briscoe starting from sixth position. Hendrick Motorsports drivers, William Byron and Kyle Larson, positioned themselves at the front, seeking to control the race. Byron received support from Carson Hocevar, while Larson had the boost from Bubba Wallace. However, Larson apparently ran out of fuel, causing him to lose positions. Byron, for his part, saw his aspirations frustrated due to an excessive push from Hocevar that made him spin. Briscoe, on the other hand, had the support of Ty Gibbs, who proved to be an invaluable teammate.

“Ty Gibbs, an incredible teammate. Honestly, I wouldn’t have won that race without Ty. This is an amazing team effort. I can’t believe I won a race on a superspeedway. I haven’t done it at any level,” commented Briscoe.

There are still two spots available for the championship final, which will be decided in the next race. Larson and Christopher Bell are above the elimination line, while Byron, Chase Elliott, Joey Logano, and Ryan Blaney are below. The race went into overtime after Chris Buescher, who was leading, was hit by Byron, causing a crash. Todd Gilliland finished second, and Ty Gibbs, third.

Chase Elliott Suffers a Setback at Talladega

Chase Elliott’s hopes of advancing to the final were affected by an early accident in the race. Elliott, already below the cut line, was involved in a multiple-car crash, relegating him to the last position. Now, Elliott faces the need to win at Martinsville Speedway to secure his place in the Phoenix final.

“It is what it is, I can’t change it now. All eyes on Martinsville and try to get a win,” Elliott said.
