Sean Strickland, Suspended Indefinitely After Altercation at MMA Event

UFC’s former middleweight champion, Sean Strickland, faces an indefinite suspension following an incident at an MMA event in Las Vegas last June.

The Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) made the decision to suspend Strickland, 34, due to his involvement in the altercation. It is common practice for the commission to suspend athletes or members of their team until an official sanction is determined at a disciplinary hearing.

Strickland’s hearing, which was scheduled for Wednesday, was postponed to a later date.

The incident took place on June 29th at a Tuff-N-Uff event in Las Vegas. Strickland entered the cage after the fighter Miles Hunsinger, whom he trains, lost by submission to Luis Hernandez.

After the victory, Hernandez provoked Hunsinger’s team, which caused a reaction from Strickland and UFC fighter Chris Curtis as well. A video captured Strickland throwing several punches at Hernandez.

The UFC will probably not announce any fight for Strickland until this matter is resolved. His last fight was in February, where he failed to regain the 185-pound championship against Dricus Du Plessis.
