Diego Lopes stars in triumphant return with knockout at UFC Fight Night

Diego Lopes achieved an exciting return to the octagon, defeating Jean Silva by technical knockout in the featherweight main event at UFC Fight Night, held in San Antonio. Lopes, after his failed attempt for the division championship in April, was dominant from the start. In the first round, he was close to finishing the fight, securing the full mount position and punishing Silva with elbows, in addition to seeking submission. However, Silva resisted for almost two minutes in an unfavorable position. In the second round, Silva took the initiative in the stand-up fight, but Lopes connected with a spectacular spinning elbow that sent him to the canvas. Taking advantage of the situation, Lopes pounced on Silva and punished him with twenty blows before referee Mike Beltran stopped the fight at 4:48. Lopes’ celebration was interrupted when Silva, with a bloody and still staggering face, got up and pushed his opponent.

This game has levels: your level and the high level. I am at the high level. I tried it tonight.

For Silva, the defeat ended a streak of 13 consecutive victories since 2018.

Tatiana Suarez Dominates Amanda Lemos in a Strawweight Bout

In a showdown between top strawweight contenders, Tatiana Suarez outmatched Amanda Lemos, securing a unanimous decision victory (29-28, 29-28, 29-28). Suarez, number 5 in the strawweight rankings, secured takedowns in all three rounds and accumulated 9 minutes and 34 seconds of control time in the fight. This victory puts her back on the winning track, after suffering her first professional loss against Zhang Weili in February. Suarez is positioning herself for another title opportunity, while Zhang has moved to the flyweight division. Lemos, ranked number 4, connected few significant blows in the first two rounds, although he reacted in the last minute of the third round, putting Suarez on the defensive. However, it was too late for Lemos, who has lost two of his last three fights. The event, called UFC Fight Night, commemorated Mexican Independence Day. Originally scheduled to be held in Mexico, the event was moved due to delays in the construction of a new venue in Guadalajara.
