Sean Strickland Indefinitely Suspended After Altercation at MMA Event

Former UFC middleweight champion Sean Strickland has been suspended from all competition after being involved in an altercation with another fighter at an MMA event held in June in Las Vegas.

The Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) has imposed an indefinite suspension on Strickland, 34, due to his involvement in the incident. It is common for the commission to suspend an athlete or licensed team member until an official sanction is issued at a disciplinary hearing.

Strickland’s case was scheduled to be addressed at the commission’s monthly meeting on Wednesday, but it was decided to postpone the hearing to a later date.

The altercation took place at a Tuff-N-Uff event on June 29th in Las Vegas. Strickland entered the cage after the fighter he trains, Miles Hunsinger, suffered a submission loss to Luis Hernandez.

Immediately after the victory, Hernandez provoked Hunsinger’s corner, which caused a reaction from Strickland and UFC fighter Chris Curtis as well. A video captured Strickland throwing several punches at Hernandez.

It’s almost certain that the UFC won’t announce any fight for Strickland until this matter is resolved. His last fight was in February, where he failed to regain the 185-pound championship against Dricus Du Plessis.
