Conor McGregor Teases a Surprise Return to the Cage
UFC star Conor McGregor has once again sparked anticipation among his fans by hinting at his return to competition. On this occasion, the Irish fighter has expressed his willingness to face an “unnamed rival”. McGregor, with a record of 22 wins and 6 losses, hasn’t fought since July 2021. However, he has expressed on multiple occasions his desire to return to action in 2026, with his sights set on the UFC event at the White House, scheduled for June. The two-division former champion shared on social media his willingness to accept a fight against an “unnamed” opponent, urging the UFC to send him the contract. This announcement comes less than a week after McGregor posted and quickly deleted another message in which he claimed to have received an opponent and date offer, which he accepted. The 37-year-old fighter was scheduled to face Michael Chandler at UFC 303 in June 2024, but had to withdraw at the last minute due to a foot injury. UFC CEO Dana White expressed his interest in McGregor’s return, but clarified that it would no longer be against Chandler. This has raised the question of who will be McGregor’s next opponent. McGregor suffered a tibia fracture in his last fight, a technical knockout loss to Dustin Poirier at UFC 264. Three of his last four appearances were in the lightweight division, with the fourth at welterweight. It is not yet clear in which category he would return in 2026. His fight against Chandler in 2024 was scheduled for five rounds at the 170-pound limit. My next opponent may be someone with no name, people. I accept. Send the contract, lads.
