Jorge Masvidal Wins Million-Dollar Lawsuit Against Fanmio

UFC veteran Jorge Masvidal has secured a significant legal victory. A Florida judge ruled in favor of Masvidal, awarding him a default judgment for breach of contract exceeding $5 million in his lawsuit against the online platform Fanmio. Judge Beatrice Butchko Sanchez approved Masvidal’s request, confirming the decision of an arbitrator who awarded the former BMF champion $5,315,268.64, plus post-judgment interest. This dispute originated from the 2024 boxing match between Masvidal and Nate Diaz, promoted by Fanmio. Masvidal filed the lawsuit in January, alleging that his agreement for the fight with Diaz included a purse of $6 million, with an additional $1 million if he won. Despite losing the match by decision, Masvidal claimed to have received only a $150,000 advance and a $1 million payment.

The referee ruled in favor of Masvidal, ending this matter with final approval.

Despite this resolution, Fanmio still faces litigation with other fighters. Nate Diaz, who also participated in the event, filed a lawsuit against Fanmio two weeks later, claiming more than $9 million. An arbitrator awarded Diaz $6 million, in addition to attorney’s fees. This case is still awaiting final approval. In March, Fanmio initiated a lawsuit against Golden Boy Promotions and Ryan Garcia, due to the cancellation of an exhibition match with Rukiya Anpo, scheduled for December 31, 2024. Garcia chose to fight Rolando Romero in May.
