Jorge Masvidal Wins Million-Dollar Lawsuit Against Fanmio

UFC veteran Jorge Masvidal has secured a significant legal victory. A Florida judge ruled in his favor, awarding him a judgment for breach of contract amounting to over $5 million against the online platform Fanmio. Judge Beatrice Butchko Sanchez approved Masvidal’s request, following the ruling of an arbitrator who awarded him $5,315,268.64, in addition to post-judgment interest, related to his 2024 boxing match against Nate Diaz. Masvidal sued Fanmio in January, alleging that his agreement for the fight with Diaz included a $6 million purse, plus an additional million if he won the fight. Masvidal lost the fight by decision and claimed to have received only a $150,000 advance and a payment of one million. The referee backed Masvidal, and with the final approval, this matter is resolved. However, Fanmio still faces litigation with other fighters. Nate Diaz filed a lawsuit against Fanmio two weeks later, claiming more than 9 million dollars. An arbitrator awarded Diaz 6 million dollars, in addition to attorney’s fees. This case is still awaiting final approval. In March, Fanmio filed a lawsuit against Golden Boy Promotions and Ryan Garcia for a canceled exhibition match with Rukiya Anpo, which was to take place on December 31, 2024. Garcia chose to fight Rolando Romero in May.
