Jorge Masvidal Wins Legal Victory Worth Millions Against Fanmio

UFC veteran Jorge Masvidal has been favored by a Florida judge, who awarded him a default judgment for breach of contract for more than $5 million in his lawsuit against the online platform Fanmio. Judge Beatrice Butchko Sanchez approved Masvidal’s request, after an arbitrator awarded the former BMF champion $5,315,268.64, plus post-judgment interest, related to his 2024 boxing match against Nate Diaz. Masvidal filed the lawsuit against Fanmio in January, alleging that his agreement for the fight with Diaz included a $6 million purse, plus an additional $1 million in case of victory. Masvidal lost the fight by decision and claimed to have received only a $150,000 advance and a $1 million payment. The referee ruled in favor of Masvidal, and with final approval, the matter is resolved. However, Fanmio still faces litigation with other fighters. Nate Diaz filed a lawsuit against Fanmio two weeks after the Masvidal case, claiming a debt of over $9 million. An arbitrator awarded Diaz $6 million, in addition to attorney’s fees. This case is still awaiting final approval. In March, Fanmio filed a lawsuit against Golden Boy Promotions and Ryan Garcia for a canceled exhibition match with Rukiya Anpo, scheduled for December 31, 2024. Garcia chose to fight Rolando Romero in May.
