Khabib Wishes a Positive Change for Conor McGregor

Mixed martial arts (MMA) legend Khabib Nurmagomedov has expressed his wish for his former rival, Conor McGregor, to take a new direction in his life. Nurmagomedov, who defeated McGregor in one of the most intense rivalries in UFC history in 2018, submitting him with a rear naked choke, has spoken about McGregor’s current situation. After their confrontation, McGregor has faced various legal issues, including a civil lawsuit for sexual assault in 2024.

“This is a punishment, [but] the most beautiful part of this is that Allah always gives the opportunity to return,” Nurmagomedov commented during an intervention in New York on Saturday. “I think he has a chance. He has to change how he is living.”

Nurmagomedov added that a change in McGregor could positively influence other lives. He emphasized that if McGregor does not change, he will face consequences throughout his life. These statements contrast with Nurmagomedov’s comments in previous years, where the relationship between the two was tense and full of provocations. McGregor hasn’t competed since he suffered a leg fracture in July 2021. However, he recently rejoined the UFC’s mandatory testing pool, preparing for a possible return.
