White Sox place Tyler Gilbert on injured list
The Chicago White Sox have placed left-handed pitcher Tyler Gilbert on the 15-day injured list due to a medial collateral ligament (MCL) sprain in his left knee.
The team has called up left-handed pitcher Jared Shuster from Triple-A Charlotte to take his place.
Gilbert had to leave Friday’s game against the Chicago Cubs in the sixth inning, after only facing two batters, in a 13-3 loss.
In the current season, Gilbert has a 1-1 record with an ERA of 4.85 in 13 games, including three starts.
Throughout his career, 31-year-old Gilbert has a 3-8 record with a 4.30 ERA in 47 appearances, 16 of them as a starter, playing for the Arizona Diamondbacks, the Philadelphia Phillies, and the White Sox.
Shuster, 26, has a 7.59 ERA with no decisions in eight relief appearances with the White Sox this season.
