WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Athletics third baseman Gio Urshela will be placed on the injured list after suffering a left hamstring strain during Thursday’s loss to the Los Angeles Angels.
Urshela left the game in the sixth inning due to the injury. Manager Mark Kotsay reported that Urshela will undergo an MRI and will be placed on the injured list.
The Athletics suffered a 10-5 defeat, marking their ninth consecutive loss.
In the game, Urshela went 1-for-2, including a walk with the bases loaded. So far this season, he has recorded a batting average of .224, with no home runs and 13 RBIs in 32 games.
