Kyle Tucker Returns to Action with the Cubs
The prominent batter Kyle Tucker returned to the Chicago Cubs’ lineup this Thursday, after missing three games. The right fielder occupied the second spot in the batting order in the matchup against the Milwaukee Brewers. The Cubs’ goal was to secure their fourth consecutive victory over the National League Central Division leaders, the Brewers, in the final game of a five-game series at Wrigley Field. Tucker’s absence was due to his performance, as he hadn’t played since Monday, the day he went 0-4 in Chicago’s 7-0 loss to the Brewers. In August, the player is batting .148 (8 for 54) in 15 games, with only two extra-base hits in his last 24 games. Before this streak, the 28-year-old player was batting .290 with 17 home runs and 52 RBIs in his first 85 games and was selected for the All-Star Game for the fourth time. After Wednesday’s 4-3 victory over the Brewers, Cubs manager Craig Counsell confirmed that Tucker had been playing with a small fracture in his right hand, suffered during a slide against Cincinnati on June 1. Counsell suggested that this might have influenced Tucker’s poor performance. On Thursday, Tucker downplayed the injury as the cause of his poor performance. There are no medical restrictions for Tucker. He was simply given time off this week to help him get through this rough patch.

Tucker, acquired in a trade with Houston in December, will be eligible for free agency after this season.I don’t know how much my preparation and my swing and everything really affected it. It didn’t feel good at the time and I managed it, and obviously you make adjustments to go out and play.
