Austin Riley to the Injured List Again

Atlanta Braves third baseman Austin Riley has been placed on the 10-day injured list, marking the second time in two months that he has suffered a lower abdominal muscle injury. The injury occurred on Sunday, during the Braves’ 4-2 victory against Cincinnati, in the MLB Speedway Classic at Bristol Motor Speedway, where Riley made an out to Elly De La Cruz near the plate. Riley had already been on the injured list on July 12 due to an abdominal strain, returning on July 25. Before the start of the home series against Milwaukee on Monday night, the Braves called up infielders Nacho Alvarez Jr. and Jonathan Ornelas from Triple-A Gwinnett. In addition, the team sent outfielder Jarred Kelenic to Gwinnett after Sunday’s game. Riley has a batting average of .260 with 16 home runs and 54 RBIs.
