Hunter Dobbins Out for the Season Due to Injury

Boston Red Sox right-handed pitcher Hunter Dobbins announced on Saturday that his season is over due to a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his right knee. The injury occurred the night before, during the game against the Tampa Bay Rays. In the second inning of the game, while covering first base, Dobbins was injured after stepping awkwardly after making a catch following a throw from first baseman Abraham Toro. After a warm-up pitch, manager Alex Cora stopped him from continuing. Dobbins, 25, revealed that he suffered the same ACL injury playing American football in high school. The Red Sox placed him on the 15-day injured list on Saturday and called up right-handed pitcher Richard Fitts.
