Shohei Ohtani and Aaron Judge lead the All-Star Game voting

The Los Angeles Dodgers and the New York Yankees already have their representatives confirmed for the All-Star Game on July 15 at Truist Park in Atlanta. Shohei Ohtani and Aaron Judge were the first players selected as starters, thanks to the fans’ vote, announced on Thursday. Judge dominated the American League with 4,012,983 votes in the first round of voting, securing his seventh start in eight All-Star Games, although he missed the 2023 event due to a foot injury. In 2022 and 2023, he also led the voting in the first phase. Ohtani, for his part, led the National League and placed second in the overall voting with 3,967,668 votes, becoming the first designated hitter to be a starter in five consecutive All-Star Games. The selection of these players was made under the rules implemented in 2022, which grant starting positions to the most voted from each league in the first phase of online voting, which began on June 4 and ended on Thursday. The two finalists from each remaining position advanced to the second phase. The second voting phase will run from Monday until July 2nd. The votes from the first phase are not cumulative. The remaining headlines will be announced on July 2, while pitchers and reserves will be revealed on July 6.
