Washington Nationals Suffer Outfield Injuries

The Washington Nationals are facing new challenges in their outfield. Two days after placing Dylan Crews on the 10-day injured list, the team has lost another position player in the outfield.

Jacob Young has been added to the 10-day injured list due to a sprain in his left shoulder’s acromioclavicular (AC) joint. This decision is retroactive to Tuesday.

To cover the absence, Daylen Lile, considered the number 9 prospect of the Nationals according to MLB Pipeline, has been called up to the active roster.

Lile, 22, has not yet debuted in the Major Leagues, but has shown great performance in the minor leagues. In the current season, he has led the organization in batting average (.337), OPS (.892), hits (55) and runs scored (30) in 39 games, distributed between Double-A Harrisburg and Triple-A Rochester. In addition, he has hit three home runs and produced 23 RBIs.

In his four seasons in the minor leagues, Lile recorded a batting average of .273, with 18 home runs, 59 stolen bases, 180 runs scored, and 144 runs batted in in 294 games.

For his part, Young, 25, is batting .227 with six RBIs in 41 games this season. In his three seasons with the Nationals, the player selected in the seventh round of the 2021 draft, has a .251 average with three home runs, 51 stolen bases, 99 runs scored and 54 RBIs in 224 games.
