Jeff McNeil Ejected in Game Against Texas
The Mets player, Jeff McNeil, was ejected from the game against Texas in the fourth inning on Friday night.
The decision came after a pitch that was called the third strike.
The incident occurred when pitcher Jacob deGrom, who was returning to Citi Field for the first time since leaving the Mets in December 2022, threw a full-count pitch in the lower part of the strike zone.
McNeil, apparently, thought the pitch was a ball, so he threw his bat towards the Mets’ dugout.
Home plate umpire Scott Barry called the pitch a strike. McNeil reacted with complaints, which led Barry to immediately eject him from the game.
This was McNeil’s first ejection in his Major League career.
