The Kansas City Royals have placed right-handed pitcher Michael Lorenzen on the 15-day injured list due to a left oblique strain.
The decision, announced this Monday, is retroactive to last Friday. Lorenzen, who last participated on July 6, offered an outstanding performance of seven innings without allowing runs against the Arizona Diamondbacks, allowing only two hits.Lorenzen, 33, has a 5-8 record with an ERA of 4.61 in 18 starts this season. Throughout his 11 seasons in the Major Leagues with the Cincinnati Reds (2015-21), Los Angeles Angels (2022), Detroit Tigers (2023), Philadelphia Phillies (2023), Texas Rangers (2024) and now the Royals, he has accumulated 52 wins and 52 losses, with an ERA of 4.06 in 386 appearances (111 as a starter).
A corresponding move is expected in the coming days. The Royals will resume action after the All-Star break on Friday, facing the Miami Marlins as visitors.
