Aaron Judge Climbs Yankees’ All-Time Home Run List

The Yankees captain, Aaron Judge, continues to make his mark on baseball history. On Tuesday night, Judge hit his 359th home run in a Yankees jersey, during the game against the Detroit Tigers.

This historic home run allowed Judge to break the tie he held with legendary Hall of Fame catcher Yogi Berra and move up to fifth place on the franchise’s all-time home run list.

Judge’s hit, a splitter on a full count thrown by Casey Mize, went to right-center field, putting the Yankees up 1-0. The ball was hit with a speed of 110.6 mph and traveled a distance of 412 feet, demonstrating the player’s characteristic power. Judge had tied Berra on August 31, in a game against the Chicago White Sox, where he also hit a solo home run. In the Yankees’ home run list, Judge is below legends Babe Ruth (659 home runs), Mickey Mantle (536), Lou Gehrig (493), and Joe DiMaggio (361). Let’s remember that Judge was selected by the Yankees in the first round of the 2013 amateur draft, and hit his first home run with the team on August 13, 2016. Yogi Berra passed away in 2015 at the age of 90. This home run came in Judge’s third game back in right field, after not playing in that position since July 25 due to an injury to the flexor tendon in his right elbow. Despite having recently returned, Judge has already proven his worth, even making a spectacular catch in Sunday’s game against Toronto.
