Ian Happ returns to action with the Chicago Cubs

The Chicago Cubs activate left fielder Ian Happ from the injured list for Tuesday’s game against the Miami Marlins.

Cubs president Jed Hoyer confirmed the news to 670 The Score. To make room on the roster, rookie designated hitter Moisés Ballesteros is expected to be sent back to Triple-A Iowa.

Happ, 30, completed the minimum 10-day injured list stint after suffering a left oblique strain on May 9. In 39 games this season, he is batting .269 with three home runs and 19 RBIs.

Since his debut in 2017, Happ has hit for .249 with 153 home runs and 497 RBIs in 1,028 games. He was an All-Star in 2022 and won the Gold Glove as a left fielder in 2022, 2023, and 2024.

Moisés Ballesteros, 21, is the Cubs’ No. 2 prospect and No. 50 overall, according to Kiley McDaniel.

The Venezuelan bats for .188 (3 for 16) with three runs scored and three runs batted in in five games.
