Guerrero Jr. Grand Slam Propels Blue Jays in ALDS Against Yankees

The Toronto Blue Jays are looking to make an indelible mark this postseason. In the bottom of the fourth inning of Game 2 of the American League Division Series against the New York Yankees, Yankees pitcher Will Warren found himself on the mound with the bases loaded. The Blue Jays’ batter was first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. With a two-ball and one-strike count, and one out, Warren threw the pitch, sending a 96-mile-per-hour fastball to Guerrero Jr. The Toronto first baseman perfectly timed the ball, sending it deep to left field for a grand slam.

With this grand slam, Guerrero Jr. also drove in Andres Gimenez, Myles Straw and George Springer, giving Toronto a dominant 9-0 lead over the Yankees. This home run also meant Guerrero Jr.’s second during the postseason, as he hit the first one on Saturday during Game 1.
