ARLINGTON, Texas – The Arizona Diamondbacks have placed right-handed pitcher Anthony DeSclafani on the 15-day injured list due to inflammation in his right thumb. DeSclafani, who has primarily been a reliever for the Diamondbacks, made three starts this month after Merrill Kelly was traded to the Texas Rangers. The decision was made before the last game of the series against Texas, where Kelly would be the Rangers’ starter. To cover the absence, the Diamondbacks called up right-handed pitcher Casey Kelly from Triple-A Reno.
