CLEVELAND – Right-handed pitcher Ben Lively was placed on the 15-day injured list by the Cleveland Guardians on Tuesday due to a right flexor tendon strain.

Lively left Monday night’s game against the Milwaukee Brewers after three innings.

Manager Stephen Vogt said Lively felt some discomfort after his start in Washington on May 6, but didn’t experience it again until he threw a couple of warm-up pitches before the fourth inning on Monday night.

I felt like I could keep throwing. We took it away from him, to his dismay. That gives me a little bit of hope that it’s something he felt he could withstand. We just have to wait to hear the report.

Lively is 2-2 with a 3.22 ERA in 10 starts this season. He has allowed only one run in 14 innings across three starts in May.

The Guardians called up right-handed pitcher Zak Kent from Triple-A Columbus.
