Bryce Harper Returns to Action with the Phillies
Philadelphia – Phillies slugger Bryce Harper was reinstated to the team this Monday, just in time for the opening game against the San Diego Padres. Harper was on the injured list due to inflammation in his right wrist. The two-time National League Most Valuable Player and eight-time All-Star, was placed on the injured list on June 6. So far this season, Harper is batting .258 with nine home runs, 34 RBIs, and eight stolen bases in 57 games. In addition, he missed five games between May 26 and June 2 due to a contusion in his right elbow, after being hit by a pitch from Spencer Strider of the Atlanta Braves.The Phillies started Monday’s game in first place in their division. Without Harper in the lineup, the team has a record of 13-14 so far this season. To make room on the 26-player roster, infielder Buddy Kennedy was designated for assignment.Harper mentioned that he felt pain in his wrist for much of last season, in which he hit 30 home runs, helping the Phillies win the National League East Division.
