Bo Bichette Says He’s Ready for the World Series with the Blue Jays
Toronto Blue Jays shortstop Bo Bichette has expressed his optimism about his participation in the upcoming World Series. “I’ll be ready,” Bichette affirmed when asked about his availability for the team in their first World Series appearance since 1993.
Bichette, 27, hasn’t played since suffering a knee injury in a collision at the plate against the New York Yankees on September 6.
“This is a dream for me, to be playing in these games,” Bichette said during the team’s celebration in the clubhouse after the 4-3 victory over the Mariners in Game 7 of the American League Championship Series on Monday night. “But this group is very easy to support. They played incredible.”
Before Game 7, Blue Jays manager John Schneider indicated that Bichette had made “significant progress” in his rehabilitation.
In the regular season, Bichette batted .311, tied for second in the American League, with 18 home runs, 94 RBIs, and an OPS of .840 in 139 games. Despite this, he was the worst-performing defensive shortstop in the majors, according to outs above average and defensive runs saved statistics.
Toronto will host the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game 1 of the World Series on Friday.
