Oakland Athletics Shakes Up Its Roster: Denzel Clarke and Max Muncy to the Injured List

The Oakland Athletics have made significant moves in their roster, placing promising center fielder Denzel Clarke and infielder Max Muncy on the 10-day injured list. The news was confirmed this Tuesday, impacting the team’s lineup.

Denzel Clarke, who has shown great potential, is suffering from a groin strain and is expected to be out of action for a few weeks, according to manager Mark Kotsay on Monday. Clarke’s absence represents a challenge for the team, as he has been key in defense and has made impressive catches this season.

Max Muncy, for his part, was hit on the right hand by a pitch during the first game of the series against Texas on Monday night. Although the X-rays were negative, the injury will force the player to a period of rest.

In response to these lows, Lawrence Butler has started in center field for the second consecutive day. Butler already proved his worth with a spectacular catch the day before, robbing Kyle Higashioka of a home run.

To reinforce the team, the Athletics have called up outfielders Colby Thomas and Carlos Cortes from Triple-A Las Vegas. Cortes, 28 years old, is about to make his debut in the Major Leagues, after having batted .322 with 17 home runs and 77 RBIs in 71 games with Las Vegas.
