Houston Astros: Luis García to Injured List

The Houston Astros have placed right-handed pitcher Luis García on the 15-day injured list due to right elbow discomfort. The news comes a day after García left his start against the Toronto Blue Jays. García was making his second start after being out for more than two years, recovering from Tommy John surgery. In his brief performance, García made 27 pitches, of which 14 were strikes, before leaving the game.

It was a gut punch. He’s worked so hard to come back. Just seeing him pointing at his elbow, it’s difficult.

Joe Espada, Astros manager
García earned the victory against the Los Angeles Angels on September 1st, allowing three hits and three runs in six innings, in his first start since May 1st, 2023. Sword indicated that Garcia had no problem recovering from that opening. Right-handed pitcher Nick Hernandez was called up from Triple-A to take his place on the roster.
