WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – New York Mets catcher Francisco Álvarez will undergo an MRI on his right thumb after injuring it on a headfirst slide into second base on Sunday night against Seattle.Álvarez, after connecting a double in the seventh inning, remained in the game. However, he did not participate in the eighth inning in the Mets’ 7-3 victory over the Mariners in the MLB Little League Classic.Mets manager Carlos Mendoza reported that Alvarez would return to New York on Monday for an MRI.
