In an unexpected turn during the Sanderson Farms Championship, golfer Vince Whaley demonstrated his composure when facing an unusual situation: a six-foot alligator that was watching him closely while he was taking a shot. The incident occurred on the 11th hole, a par 5, where Whaley went into the water to play his shot. Despite the presence of the reptile about 20 feet away, the golfer remained calm and managed to save par. At that moment, Whaley was one stroke off the lead and aware of the attentive gaze of the alligator, which kept its head out of the water.
The caiman remained still while Whaley took his shot, managing to leave the ball near the green and finally, get par. Whaley closed the day with a score of 67 strokes, which allowed him to tie for third position.“Fortunately, I turned my back so I could focus on the shot for a second,” Whaley stated, adding that he relied on his caddie to monitor the situation.

“The plan was to run out of the water”.
