Maja Stark Crowned Champion at the U.S. Women’s Open

Swedish golfer Maja Stark solidified her dominance at the U.S. Women’s Open, securing her first major championship this Sunday at Erin Hills.

Stark maintained a consistent game throughout the week, culminating in a final round of 72 strokes. His total performance of four rounds was 7 under par, with a total of 281 strokes.

This result allowed her to surpass Nelly Korda, number one in the world, and Japan’s Rio Takeda by two strokes.

As a prize for her victory, Stark received $2.4 million, in the most important event of the women’s golf season.

Maja Stark, from Sweden, holds her winner’s trophy after winning the U.S. Women’s Open golf tournament at Erin Hills.

Stark, 25, becomes the sixth Swedish golfer to win an LPGA major. The last was Anna Nordqvist, who won the Women’s British Open in 2021. Furthermore, Stark, who played at Oklahoma State from 2019 to 2021, is the first Swede to win the U.S. Women’s Open since Annika Sorenstam in 2006.

This is Stark’s second LPGA title, following her victory at the 2022 ISPS Handa World Invitational, a Ladies European Tour event in Northern Ireland that was co-sanctioned with the LPGA Tour.
