Scottie Scheffler and His Caddie: An Unexpected Change at the BMW Championship

OWINGS MILLS, Md. – World number one golfer Scottie Scheffler faces an unusual situation at the BMW Championship. His usual caddie, Ted Scott, will not be present at the tournament due to a family emergency. Scheffler confirmed that Scott had to withdraw from the FedEx St. Jude Championship last week to attend to a family matter in Louisiana.

Ted’s where he needs to be right now. I think caddying is probably the last thing on his mind, as it should be. I’ve been able to speak with him a few times. The family is in good spirits. Everyone seems to be doing well.

In the BMW Championship, Scheffler will have Michael Cromie as his caddie. Cromie, who works for Chris Kirk, is in a temporary substitute position.

Mike is a great guy. He works very hard. He does a good job and we are both learning a new golf course this week.

During Scott’s absence in the previous tournament, Brad Payne, a friend of Scheffler, took on the role of caddie in the final round. Payne, president of the College Golf Fellowship, had already worked as Scheffler’s caddie in the past. Ted Scott has been Scheffler’s caddie in his 17 PGA Tour victories, including four major championships.
