Rory McIlroy Reveals the Exquisite Menu for the Masters Champions Dinner
After 17 years of searching, Rory McIlroy finally conquered his first green jacket at the Masters. Now, a year later, he prepares to treat his predecessors to an unforgettable dinner, showcasing his good taste and elegance. The menu for the official dinner of the Masters Club, also known as the Champions Dinner, is almost as spectacular as the game that earned him the green jacket at Augusta National. The menu, consisting of 12 dishes from appetizers to desserts, and accompanied by four select wines from the Augusta National cellar, promises to be a first-class culinary experience.McIlroy spared no expense, enthusiastically taking on the role of host. The dinner, held on Tuesday night during Masters week, is a tradition dating back to 1952, started by Ben Hogan. Only Masters champions are invited, in addition to the club chairman, Fred Ridley, as an honorary member. This year’s dinner promises a fusion of unique flavors and experiences. McIlroy’s menu includes a touch of his homeland, Northern Ireland, with bacon-wrapped dates, an appetizer from his mother, and Irish champ as a side dish. In addition, he incorporated crispy Vidalia onion rings from the southeastern Georgia region and a peach and ricotta focaccia.I think it would be presumptuous to have a menu in mind before winning the tournament. But I always thought, if I win the Masters someday, how would I like it to be? What would I like to serve?

As a starter, a yellowfin tuna carpaccio, specially prepared by the Augusta National staff, who traveled to McIlroy’s favorite restaurant in New York, Le Bernardin, to learn the recipe.
The main course offers the choice between wagyu filet mignon or seared salmon, accompanied by sautéed Brussels sprouts, carrots glazed with brown butter, and Vidalia onion rings. To finish, McIlroy has chosen a sticky toffee pudding with vanilla ice cream and hot caramel sauce. The dinner is completed with a selection of champagne and wine, including a Château Lafite Rothschild from Pauillac (1990) and a Château d’Yquem from Sauternes (1989), the latter from McIlroy’s birth year. After a night of camaraderie and celebration, McIlroy and the other participants will have another practice day before returning to compete for the green jacket. The Masters begins on April 9th.
