Collin Morikawa, a prominent figure in world golf, has reported an improvement in his physical condition following his recent withdrawal from the Players Championship. The news is especially relevant given that the Masters, one of the most prestigious tournaments, is just around the corner. Morikawa, currently in sixth place in the world ranking, had to withdraw from the Players Championship after completing only one hole in the first round. A sudden movement during practice on the 11th hole caused his withdrawal, describing the situation as “the worst”.
Morikawa’s statements, shared during the TGL semifinals, where he is part of the Los Angeles team, reveal a preventive approach to ensure his participation in future events. Before his retirement, Morikawa was considered one of the favorites to win the Players Championship, thanks to his excellent performance in 2026, which included three Top 10 finishes and a victory at the Pebble Beach Pro-Am. The golfer had already experienced back problems in the past, including the Tokyo 2021 Olympics and the Memorial tournament in 2023, from which he also had to withdraw. My team and I are conducting a series of tests to ensure the protection of the area and continuously strengthen it, with the aim of preventing situations like this from happening again.
