Miguel Ángel Jiménez Wins the Kaulig Companies Championship

Spanish golfer Miguel Ángel Jiménez added his fourth victory of the season on the PGA Tour Champions, after an exciting triumph at the Kaulig Companies Championship. Jiménez showed his composure by forcing a playoff against Steven Alker and securing the victory with an impressive 20-foot birdie putt on the second extra hole. Jiménez, 61, and Alker, 53, shared the lead at the start of the final round at Firestone South. Both golfers signed scorecards of 68 strokes (-2) for a total of 270 (-10) in the major championship. The tension remained high in the playoff. On the first extra hole, both players tied with pars. On the second hole, Alker missed a 20-foot birdie attempt, while Jiménez kept his cool to execute his winning putt.

Jiménez demonstrated his skill and experience once more.

This triumph represents the third major title for Jiménez, who previously won the Regions Tradition and the Senior British Open in 2018. Furthermore, this victory secures him a place in the prestigious The Players Championship next year at TPC Sawgrass. The Spanish golfer has 17 career victories on the over-50s circuit. Previously, Jiménez had beaten Alker by two strokes at the Trophy Hassan II in Morocco in February, followed by victories at the Hoag Classic in March and the Principal Charity Classic three weeks ago. Stewart Cink finished in third place with a score of 8 under par, while Steve Flesch was one stroke behind. The U.S. Senior Open will begin on Thursday at the Broadmoor in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
