Jin Hee Im and Somi Lee Crowned Champions at the Dow Championship
In an exciting definition, Jin Hee Im and Somi Lee, representatives of South Korea, won the Dow Championship. The triumph was achieved on the first playoff hole, where Im holed a birdie putt from eight feet away, securing the title. The South Korean pair defeated Lexi Thompson and Megan Khang, who were seeking victory. Khang had the opportunity to extend the playoff, but her birdie putt from five feet didn’t go in. Thompson and Khang had achieved an impressive round of 10 under par (60) in the fourballs format. Their performance positioned them with a total of 20 under par (260). Lee, for his part, had tied for the lead on the 17th hole thanks to a birdie putt from ten feet. Both Im and Lee squandered birdie opportunities on the 18th hole during regulation time. The tiebreaker was played in a foursomes format. Thompson left his tee shot on the 18th hole just five feet from the hole. Lee approached the pin, but was eight feet away, setting the stage for Im’s winning putt. It’s a shame to miss the last putt in the playoff and not force another hole, but I’m very happy with how we played.

Lindy Duncan and Miranda Wang tied for third place, two strokes off the playoff, with a round of 59 in the better-ball format. Manon De Roey and Pauline Roussin-Bouchard also performed well, recording a 64. Albane Valenzuela and Sarah Schmelzel, who were leading after 54 holes, finished in fifth place, three strokes behind the winners, after a round of 66 and failing to make birdies in the last seven holes. Thompson hasn’t announced her plans for future tournaments. The next event on the LPGA calendar is the Evian Championship in France, a major that Thompson has skipped since 2019. The Dow Championship is the only official team event on the LPGA schedule.I can’t believe it.
