Europe Nears Ryder Cup Retention: Dominance at Bethpage Black

Farmingdale, N.Y. – The European team is on the verge of securing the retention of the Ryder Cup, after a Saturday that consolidated their lead over the United States at Bethpage Black. The performance of the Europeans has been impressive, putting them only 2.5 points away from victory.

Saturday morning witnessed European superiority in the foursomes, where they achieved an 8.5-3.5 lead. In the afternoon, they continued their dominance by winning three of the four four-ball matches, extending their lead to a resounding 11.5-4.5.

Europe has triumphed in the four sessions played during the first two days of the tournament. Now, they only need 2.5 points from the 12 individual matches on Sunday to win on American soil for the first time since 2012.

This lead represents the widest lead for the European team entering the singles matches, and is also the largest lead for any visiting team in Ryder Cup history.
