Piastri and Norris: Clean Slate at the Mexican Grand Prix
Oscar Piastri has confirmed that both he and his McLaren teammate, Lando Norris, will start the Mexican Grand Prix with a “clean slate”. This comes after the Australian driver took responsibility for the contact between the two in the sprint race of the United States Grand Prix. Norris had received undisclosed “consequences” after being held responsible for an incident at the Singapore Grand Prix. However, Piastri revealed that these measures were lifted after a review of the crash in Austin. The McLaren teammates are in an intense battle for the championship. Piastri leads Norris by 14 points, while Max Verstappen of Red Bull is in third position, 40 points behind Piastri. The incident in Austin occurred when Piastri tried to overtake Norris for second place at Turn 1. There, he collided with Nico Hülkenberg’s Sauber and then impacted Norris. The team principal, Andrea Stella, announced that McLaren would review the Austin incident before the race in Mexico. Piastri admitted to accepting the blame. We have reviewed the incident again, as we normally do every weekend, regardless of what happened. I think there is a degree of responsibility on my part in the sprint race.

They were pretty straightforward conversations. From now on, we look towards the rest of the season. It’s like it was before, with an eye on the future and focused on myself.
