India Defines its Lineup for the Adelaide Test

Wriddhiman Saha, R Ashwin, and Prithvi Shaw will represent India in the next Test in Adelaide. Umesh Yadav completes the trio of fast bowlers. These were the main questions India faced before the start of the match, including the decision to back Shaw, the inclusion of a spinner, and the choice of wicketkeeper. Finally, the team defined their starting eleven on the eve of the test. Shaw, under pressure, kept his place. Despite Shubman Gill’s good performance in the practice matches, Shaw was selected as the opener, demonstrating his ability to score quick runs. In practice games, Shaw scored 0, 19, 40, and 3 runs. Although he didn’t score big, his risky shots were a cause for concern. However, India sought to maintain continuity in the lineup.
The titular spinner, Ashwin, was also confirmed in the team, especially in the absence of Ravindra Jadeja due to injury. The last time India didn’t pick Ashwin in an opening match of a series was on the Australia tour in 2014-15. Regarding the wicketkeeper, India opted for Saha, preferring him over Pant. The team management believes that Saha’s skills are crucial, especially in conditions where the pink ball might require a more experienced wicketkeeper. Yadav was chosen as India’s third fast bowler, replacing the injured Ishant Sharma. His experience and performance in the practice game supported him for this selection.India Lineup:
